The maths is clear: the existing fossil fuel infrastructures are more than enough to push us into runaway climate change.
However, ENI and GALP want to start a brand new fossil fuel drilling project in the Atlantic coast.
This project was authorized by the Portuguese government against the explicit opposition of the local populations and local politicians, without any environmental impact assessment, and at a moment when world temperatures are breaking record after record.
The drill that ENI and GALP want to make a test to the Portuguese society.
What we will do today will echo to the future.
If this event goes unnoticed, the government and the fossil fuel industry would interpret is a green light for all the other projects onshore and offshore.
But if instead popular opposition is strong, visible and bold, we would start a public dispute against this corrupt process that delivered the soil and the ocean to the corporations on black friday prices.
Here’s the plan:
If and when the ENI/GALP consortium decides to go forward with the drilling project, we will call for emergency actions all across the country. To stop the drill:
- Organize your action team and plan your action.
- To remain updated about action plans, subscribe to the newsletter.
What can I do?
We will keep this site up-to-date. At strategic moments, we will organize open assemblies. If and when the ENI/GALP consortium decides to go forward with the drilling project, we will call for emergency actions all across the country. To stop the drill:
Iremos manter este site atualizado. No momento mais estratégico, iremos convocar uma assembleia aberta. Se e quando a ENI/GALP decidir avançar com a perfuração, iremos convocar ações de emergência por todo o país. Para parar o furo:
- Organize your action team and plan your action, then add it to the action map.
- To get more information about the actions, subscribe to the newsletter.
- Spread the word. To stop this drill, we need everyone.
Who are we?
